The most hurting symptom of bacterial vaginosis is vaginal odor. Vaginal odor will be realized by all women at least once in her life time. You would have tried some home remedies for BV to get rid of this odor. Some might have worked and some might not. Vaginal odor during bacterial vaginosis is different when compared to normal vaginal odor. When affected by BV, you will experience a fish smell during vaginal discharge. This will frustrate you a lot. This is not present in normal vaginal odor.

When you want to get rid of vaginal odor, you should stop using perfumes. Perfumes are the enemies for vaginal odor treatment. Don’t look for temporary remedies. If you use perfumes it will keep you away from vaginal odor only for 3-4 hours. It will re-occur again. When affected by BV you should look for a permanent relief. Looking for temporary relief is of no use.

The next thing you shouldn’t do to get rid of vaginal odor is washing your vagina often. You should not wash the vagina more than two times a day. This will make you feel clean but too much usage of soap during BV is not recommended.

Avoid wearing tight panties as this may lock the air circulation in the vagina. And when you wear tight panties it will create a warm environment for the bad bacteria to grow which will become a barrier to get rid of vaginal odor. Finally don’t have sex with many. Bacterial vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted disease, but having sex with many may worse your condition. Also see whether your sex partner does not have any kind of bacterial infection.
